EXTERNALLY TENSIONED NUT
FROM RIVERHAWK

When converting to tensioning technology, engineers often face the challenge of insufficient thread protrusion. Usually, this forced them to replace the tensioning screws. The External Tension Nut System ETN from Riverhawk allows an easy transition from conventional screwing to tensioning and is perfect for applications where the installation situation offers only minimal thread protrusion. The existing tensioning screws do not have to be replaced. The External Tension Nut System ETN is ANSI compliant, can replace any type of nut (6-sided, 12-sided, cap nut, etc.) and is easy to install (requires only one person).

With this tension nut system, you can take advantage of all the benefits of tensioning technology without having to undergo the annoying conversion of the tensioning screws.

Paired with the Hydraulic External Tensioner (HET) this system is a perfect solution for your needs.

Retrofitting Capabilities

  • Change from Torquing to Tensioning without replacing studs

  • Radial footprint no larger than that of existing nut

  • Replaces any existing nut (i.e. hex, 12 point, cap, etc.)

Simple Installation

  • One-person installation and removal

  • No Extended Stud Thread Required

  • ID threaded to fit onto existing stud, and threaded on the OD to allow for the tensioner to grip the stud to be tensioned

Material Substitution

  • Nut material can be optimized for higher loads or temperature concerns
