Seabank 2, Bristol, Great Britain

The single-shaft combined-cycle power plant Seabank 2 in Bristol, Great Britain, with a total generation capacity of 386 MW was commissioned in 2000. This plant, aside from power generation, offers a frequency stabilization option to the 400kV electricity grid system under critical conditions. Between the generator and steam turbine an SSS Clutch is installed which allows the steam turbine to be disconnected from the generator for simple cycle plant operation. The output load of the V94.3A gas turbine can also range and the generator can run with variable excitation, which provides reactive power output of up to 300 MVAR when overexcited or 160 MVAR when under- excited to the grid
